Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 8, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Moose Pack Inc ("MPI", "we", "us", or "our"), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Moose Pack Ventures LLC ("MPV"), uses cookies, localStorage, and similar technologies when you use Tactical Talk AI (the "Service"). This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

Key Point: Tactical Talk AI primarily uses browser localStorage rather than traditional HTTP cookies for session management and user preferences. We use minimal cookies and do not employ third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

1. What Are Cookies & localStorage?

1.1 Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website or service. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide reporting information. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by us) or "third-party" (set by external services we use).

1.2 localStorage

localStorage is a web browser feature that allows websites to store data locally on your device. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is not automatically sent to the server with every request. It persists until explicitly cleared by the application or by you. Tactical Talk AI uses localStorage as its primary client-side storage mechanism because it offers better performance for our real-time coaching features and does not add overhead to network requests.

2. How We Use localStorage

Tactical Talk AI stores the following data in your browser's localStorage:

Key Purpose Category Duration
sb-*-auth-token Supabase authentication session tokens (access token, refresh token). Required to keep you logged in. Necessary Until logout or token expiry
cookieConsent Records whether you have accepted or dismissed the cookie consent banner. Necessary Persistent
dismissedBanners Tracks which informational banners you have dismissed so they are not shown again. Functional Persistent
userPreferences Stores your UI preferences such as theme, coaching mode defaults, and audio settings. Functional Persistent
sessionMode Remembers your selected conversation coaching mode between sessions. Functional Persistent

3. Cookies We Set (First-Party)

Tactical Talk AI sets minimal first-party cookies. Our application is designed to rely on localStorage for most client-side storage needs. Any first-party cookies set are strictly necessary for the Service to function.

Cookie Purpose Category Duration
__Host-session Secure session identifier for server-side session validation when required. Necessary Session

4. Third-Party Cookies & Services

Certain third-party services integrated into Tactical Talk AI may set their own cookies on your device. We do not control these cookies. Below is a summary of the third-party services and the cookies they may set:

4.1 Supabase (Authentication & Database)

Supabase provides our authentication infrastructure. It primarily uses localStorage tokens for session management, but may set cookies for security purposes such as CSRF protection.

  • Category: Necessary
  • Privacy Policy: supabase.com/privacy

4.2 Stripe (Payment Processing)

Stripe processes subscription payments for Tactical Talk AI. When you interact with Stripe's payment forms (checkout, billing portal, payment method updates), Stripe may set cookies for fraud prevention, security, and to remember your payment session.

  • Cookies: __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid, and others
  • Category: Necessary (payment security and fraud prevention)
  • Privacy Policy: stripe.com/privacy

4.3 Vercel (Hosting & Analytics)

Our web application is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect basic analytics data and set cookies related to performance optimization and bot protection.

  • Category: Analytics / Necessary
  • Privacy Policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

4.4 Google Analytics (Usage Analytics)

We may use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with our Service. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited, session duration, and general geographic region. No personally identifiable information is collected through Google Analytics.

  • Cookies: _ga, _ga_*, _gid
  • Category: Analytics
  • Duration: Up to 2 years
  • Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
  • Opt-out: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on

5. Cookie Categories Explained

5.1 Necessary Cookies & Storage

These are essential for the Service to function. They enable core features such as authentication, security, and payment processing. Without these, Tactical Talk AI cannot operate. Necessary cookies and localStorage items cannot be disabled.

5.2 Functional Cookies & Storage

These remember your preferences and choices to provide a more personalized experience. Examples include your preferred coaching mode, UI settings, and dismissed informational banners. Disabling these will not prevent you from using the Service but may result in a less tailored experience.

5.3 Analytics Cookies

These help us understand how users interact with our Service by collecting anonymized, aggregated data. This information helps us improve features, fix issues, and optimize performance. Analytics cookies do not identify you personally. You can opt out of analytics cookies without affecting your use of the Service.

6. Your Consent

When you first visit Tactical Talk AI, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner. By clicking "Accept" or continuing to use the Service, you consent to our use of cookies and localStorage as described in this policy.

Necessary cookies and localStorage: These are set regardless of your consent choice because they are required for the Service to function. Blocking them will prevent you from logging in or using core features.

For analytics and functional storage, you may choose to accept or decline. Your consent preference is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key cookieConsent so that we do not ask you again on subsequent visits.

7. How to Manage & Opt Out

7.1 Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically find these options under "Privacy" or "Security" in your browser preferences. Common actions include:

  • Viewing and deleting existing cookies
  • Blocking all or specific cookies
  • Setting your browser to notify you when a cookie is set
  • Enabling "Do Not Track" signals

Instructions for popular browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies

7.2 Clearing localStorage

To clear localStorage data set by Tactical Talk AI:

  • Open your browser's Developer Tools (usually F12 or right-click → Inspect)
  • Navigate to the "Application" or "Storage" tab
  • Find "Local Storage" in the sidebar and select the Tactical Talk domain
  • Delete individual keys or clear all localStorage for the site

Note: Clearing authentication tokens from localStorage will log you out of Tactical Talk AI. You will need to sign in again.

7.3 Google Analytics Opt-Out

To opt out of Google Analytics tracking specifically, you can:

  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • Use a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts
  • Enable "Do Not Track" in your browser settings

7.4 Stripe Cookies

Stripe cookies are classified as necessary because they protect against payment fraud and ensure secure transactions. These cookies are only set when you interact with payment-related features. They cannot be individually opted out of without also disabling payment functionality.

8. Data Retention for Cookies & Storage

  • Session cookies: Deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: Remain on your device for their specified duration or until you delete them manually.
  • localStorage data: Persists indefinitely until cleared by the application (e.g., on logout) or manually by you through your browser settings.
  • Analytics cookies: Typically expire within 2 years, depending on the provider.

9. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing activity not be tracked. While there is no universally accepted standard for how to respond to DNT signals, we respect your privacy preferences. When a DNT signal is detected, we will limit analytics data collection to the extent technically feasible.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of Tactical Talk AI after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Cookie Policy.
